Meryl Streep was phenomenal in The Devil Wears Prada, but the message of the film was appalling! What kind of insecure little girl refuses a chance to network with the New Yorker in order to go to her boyfriend's birthday party? WTF? And it was, like, this triumphant moment in the movie. "Yes! Anne Hathaway has her priorities in order!" NO! She doesn't! You wanna be a journalist in NYC, forget your boyfriend, forget your friends, forget anything that isn't writing. Being career obsessed is not a bad thing! There's nothing wrong with wanting to be great and adapting to the environment of greatness. Take some pride in yourselves, ladies!

Great movie, anyone whose ever been an intern or had some kind of an assistant job with a high maintenance boss can relate to this movie. I worked in sports radio as a producer and found myself relating to many things Andrea went through, dealing with a difficult personality, the demand to fill my shows daily deadlines of high end guests, and having to deal with problems on the fly. How she networked with Chris to get the Harry Potter manuscript, idk how many times I was asked for hookups from professional teams and players because of my position in radio.
Its a lesson in life movie when you're starting out in your career on how to go outside the box to solve problems, think for yourself and not being above yourself to ask for help. I could care less about the fashion aspect of it, but I get the themes portrayed here.
Why on earth did the writer portray Anne's friends the way he did? Her boyfriend … A total loser and so self centered. Her black girlfriend was such a hypocrite as well as self centered. These two characters ruined the movie for me. I love Meryl Streep. She made the show work. Anne's character was a bit to WISHY washy for my taste. The movie was okay otherwise.
